Why is mental health even important? Why now?
When we have a cough, or high fever we go to the doctor, take the prescribed medicines and feel better.
However, if we are stressed, anxious, depressed we tend to suppress those feelings and they keep on increasing over time till we have a mental breakdown. This can happen to everyone, regardless of gender, and age.
It is time, now more than ever, to acknowledge that mental, emotional health is as important as physical health. Seeking mental health care does not mean that you are crazyIt is important to talk to a therapist, or counsellor. It is important to share your feelings, emotions and worries with someone who cares, and can help you feel better.
A mentally healthy mother and father are essential to raise healthy, happy children. A mentally healthy couple can work together to make their relationship thrive.
LET’S TALK…
T = Tell someone how you feel. It is important to share feelings, emotions, thoughts, with someone you trust.
A = Approach a professional counselor/ a medical doctor if you feel the need to. There is no shame in seeking help. Even God helps those who help themselves.
L = Listen. When someone shares an experience, or feeling, or emotion, listen patiently
K = Whatever the situation, be kind. First be kind to yourself. And then always be kind to others.
